Hello,
I am using my ISP nameservers in /etc/resolv.conf. When I perform an nslookup I can resolve names but I cannot ping the name. When I do the nslookup I also get the following statement above the resolved name : "Non-Authoritative answer:"

Name: yahoo.com
Address: 66.217.71.198

I can ping the IP but no the name.
I would appreciate any help.

Thanks,
jpm

FIXED I forgot to copy the nsswitch.dns to the nsswitch.conf file.

I have the same issue. I'm not sure what you mean by the nsswitch.dns or .conf file... I have ping working on one box using names and I didn't modify the nsswitch files. On all my other boxes though I can not get ping to work by using the name. Any help would be appreciated! [3eyes]

I understand now. You just need the letters "dns" after the files line in the nsswitch.conf file or copy nsswitch.dns. Thanks!
