I have a AIX system setup as a domain controller. Running 4.3 AIX with maintenance level 6. My issue is that when I copy a 100 meg folder over from the AIX system it can take several hours to complete. I know this is not correct even on a 10 base T network. Is there an issue with DNS lookup? I have not set it up and do not know how to. I am unsure of the issue. Can anyone help? James Collins

I doubt it is if the ftp ran so quickly. ftp would have seen the same bottleneck.

The way to change it would be:

ifconfig [interface name] (en0 for example) down

chdev -l [interface name] (ent0 for example) -a media_speed=auto_negotiate

ifconfig [interface name] (en0 for example) up

Be careful with this - you can't do this from a telnet session, because as you can see, you're actually bringing down the interface. You need to do this from the computer's serial port.

Thanks, Bill.

Ftp did not run. 2 meg went fine. When I finally was able to move a 26 meg file it took 16 minutes on ftp to finish.

Thanks Bill You have been a BIG help. I really apreciate your sticking with me. I know a lot about computers, I just dont know much about AIX. James Collins

Thanks that got it. I have learned more about AIX from you than I have the company I work for. James Collins
