My current config with DNS has a winbox (web1) mydomain.com w/ ns1.mydomain.com as a primary and on another winbox (zeus) there is ns2.mydomain.com as the secondary.. However if I add a new zone on my web1 box, otherdomain.com, how would I go about creating ns1.otherdomain.com on this box is that possible? I created an A record for ns1 and added it as a NS record as well.. However when I try to manage my domain through a registar and add ns1.otherdomain.com as a NS for otherdomain.com it can't recognize the nameserver.. Any thoughts on this issue?? Any help would be great, thanks..

Your ISP needs to register otherdomain.com to your IP address before you can begin to manage it....

I think that has been done already basically.. Right now if I go to it works, I can get to the site fine. However that is with ns1.mydomain.com & ns2.mydomain.com as the name servers.. What I'd like to do is have the nameservers as ns1.otherdomain.com.. etc.. Is that possible?

yes, you need to delegate authority of the new domain to those "other" servers from your regular servers...

To delegate authority to the other servers that is done through my ISP or is it a setup that must be done on the server. If it is the latter of the two is there an resourceses you might recommend..

BTW: Thank you for helping me get a grasp on the situation..

You need to have your ISP register the new nameservers as the authority for this domain.

Okay, thanks for the information. I'll check with my ISP..
