Clients cannot access DNS server. (service is started)...what are some troubleshooting tips to find out what is wrong.

 
Check with nslookup utility from a command prompt. Try to list any record for the domain the DNS server is authorative for.

Also check the IP configuration for this server with the ipconfig/all command. On the DNS server check that DNS Server has the right IP address.

Can they ping the DNS server? And is the DNS info setup correctly in TCP/IP properties for the NIC and not DUN? I know this last one sounds silly, but I've been burned.

how are the clients recieving IP addresses is it DHCP or hard coded. which ever one it is make sure they have the correct address for the server. Are thry on the same Subnet mask also. Need more help reply with a little more info. Thanks
