I am in need of help to get domain names resolved..
I do not have AD installed; the only thing that i have installed in server2003, IIS 6.0, and DNS...
I have spent about two weeks with this and i can finally say that i can see what is going on now(after a complete mental break down).
Here are my settings:
My server2003 IP is 192.168.0.40
My server2003 Perferred DNS server is 192.168.0.40
My server2003 Alternate DNS server is (my ISP DNS)
My server2003 default gateway is 192.168.0.1
-----------------
Ok for my other LAN computers i will read off one of my desktops...
-----------------
My xpBox IP is 192.168.0.41
My xpBox Perferred DNS server is 192.168.0.40
My xpBox Alternate DNS server is (my ISP DNS)
My xpBox default gateway is 192.168.0.1
------
Here is what i need..
When ever i do a nsLookup on the server 2003 box everything works perfect.... I can type the domain in question ( ) and the name is resolved and ALSO the IIS will server the page for header
***I am not able to resolve the domain name from my xpBox(nor am i able to do a nsLookup from the command prompt from my xpBox)
Is there some security settings that i am missing some where?
