Hi techies
kindly assist the following scenerio:
- am using windows 2000 prof.
- connecting to the internet by an anolog leased line (cable modem)
- am able to the connect to the remote network but after getting an usual error 'Netbeui reported error 773. computer on the remote netowrk could not agree on ppp control tprotols. then on clicking on accept get connected.

- On surfing, internet explorer gives the error canot find server/dns error.

Please assist. thanks bye.

First thing you want to do is check your protocols configured for your PPP dial-up. Under Dial-Up Networking, look to make sure only TCP/IP protocol is selected. Turn off NETBEUI and IPX/SPX. You can still use these protocols on your LAN connection, but you shouldn't use them on your dial-up. Then, check your DNS configuration for the PPP dial-up. Make sure you've put in your ISP's DNS servers.

thanks for the answer, rgautier. I tried earlier and went thro.

For testing :

Try using unsecured password option, maybe password encryption got problem or doesn't match to your ISP.
If not, try also some of the options in Dial-up connection properties. Yes, it's trial and error thing :).
