My IE6 stopped working yesterday. I am getting the message "Server not found DNS error". I am using a direct internet connection. DNS and IP is detected automaticly and I do not specify any proxy servers. I am using other browsers as well like Mozilla and Netscape and they DO still work! All commands like ping, tracert work from a DOS window. I am programming VB and the component "webbrowser" do work. I have tried to download and reinstall IE6 - same problem. I am running windows XP...

Any help would be appreciated!

Check whether your proxy is correctly configured in the right TCP config. Instead of clicking in Lan settings, click in the dial up configs in case you are dialing up, and unset any proxy server config that there might be.

Cheers!
Marcos.

Thanks, but my connection doesn't require any proxy settings and as I described earlier, other browsers work for me. I don't have a dialup, I have a direct 10mbit connection.

BTW the Talkback at the bottom of that page adds some good info.

try going to tools>internet options>advanced> and resetting browser to default settings...close it and reopen it and see if that helps *ducks and hides* "don't shoot me i'm only the messenger!"
