Okay, this is screwy!

I have a user that is unable to receive e-mail to a domain that we support called xyz.com and it is live on the internet. She can send e-mail from that domain, but is unable to receive ANY e-mail.

This is the error messages I get when I try to send an e-mail from my Yahoo e-mail account:

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

TBernardino@aphorium.com

Technical details of permanent failure:
PERM_FAILURE: DNS Error: Domain name not found

I checked with the host provider and am able to login to the web interface so I have no idea what is wrong. Anyone else have an idea?

If you need help troubleshooting public mail and DNS problems, please give us the real domain names so that we can use tools to help you. Otherwise we're telling you to "use a tool" and hoping that you'll interpret/relay enough of the results to us that we might be able to make something out of it for you.

Sorry Shack. I found it that the problem was with the registrar not the web/mail host provider. The registrar had to update the Name Servers to point to the Web Host/Mail provider and that fixed the problem.

Glad you got it figured out. Usually using DNSStuff like Faithless did is a great way to see where the problem lies. In this case it would have told you that the MX record wasn't pointed properly.

Yup, I use DNSStuff all the time. It saved my ass plenty. I also use MXToolbox.com for real time stats. It has helped me a lot, too.
