I have a DNS controller running on the VMPro server. Some of my users are experiencing delays on voicemail light notifications. The messages SEEM to be left in the first hours of the working day and notifiers don't show until later in the day. Could this be caused by Exchange and DNS? What other issues could arise from having the two on the same?

You should not have a dns and exchange server on the vmpro server

my recommendation is always use a dedicated server for vmpro
then you would not have this question at all :)

what version are you on ???

ACA - Implement IP Office
ACA - Voice Services Management

As tipeter said it's not a good idea to have Exchance and DNS on the same server as VM Pro but I know the reality isn't always ideal.

My guess would be that in the first few hours lots of PC's are getting switched on and making DNS requests to the server which is preventing it from dealing with it's VM Pro work.

Thanks

Sorry for the confusion..let me clarify. Its just DNS and not Exchange on that server. I mentioned Exchange as it weighs heavily on the DNS server, correct?

As as1981 picked up on above, I am worried about the relationship of early calls/vm indicator delays because of the DNS requests.

To add more spice, this is a multi-site network. Star configuration with centralized voicemail. Only one of the remote sited reports this problem with frequency, but that's not to say other sites experience it and have not reported it. I am investigating that. However, I never have a delay at the main site where the vmpro is located.

So...I am looking at the network/VOIP lines and the possibility of a problem with DNS on VMPRO.
