I have people who VPN into my network. I want them to be able to access the machines via remote desktop (I have this working my question will be near the end). Instead of giving out a bunch of IP address’s to people I would much rather give them names that are easy to remember. Right now they have to use the IP address’s to get to the PC’s. How would I set this up so they could use the PC’s name? I have win 2k advanced server (still learning it) any help would be awesome.

Keep in mind this is your network not mine but i would move DHCP to the server and then set it to give out the address's with the proper DNS configuration. you might have to open up port 53 on the port filtering tab so that the DNS info might be passed on unless the server is in the DMZ.

Also another question is what address is the VPN client getting when it makes a connection in. Is it an address from the DSL router or is there a static pool in the tab i asked you to check under RRAS snaping Thanks
