We seem to be missing the following subdomains:
_msdcs
_sites
_tcp
_udp

Also in Cached Lookups there is a "*" Zone, is this OK?

We seem to be having a few problems with DNS. No records are added to the Forward Lookup Zone. It does have the correct ZONE name in the Forward Lookup Zone but the subdomains above are not there.

This Server was upgraded from Windows NT4.0. I have not yet applied SP3 to the Win2K Server.
The event log for DNS is also empty.
Users are recieving "5781" Source NETLOGON "1053","1054" Source Usernv and last "40961","40960" Source LSASVR events.

How can I correct this problem with our DNS.

Regards

Sten

- Cached "." root zone is OK. I have one in each of my two test domains and also in my production domain.

-You should see these:
_msdcs
_sites
_tcp
_udp

in your root tree forward lookup zone...but these folders should not be seen under the subdomain zones...

---> Do you see records in your forward lookup zone? Maybe try to use dos command NSLOOKUP to see if you can resolve computer names?

Jpoandl,

Thanks for your reply.
_msdcs
_sites
_tcp
_udp

No I do not see them at all. Can I add these manually?

My Server say it is Active Directory intergrated but I am not sure it is working

I don't think you can add them manually. I'm not really sure.
