Hi there,

Just wondering if someone could tell if it's possible or not to remove the chime, beep, whatever you want to call it when you turn your phone onto DND. It bothers the hell out of me, because I use the DND feature when I see a call I do not want to answer (i.e. When I'm talking with someone in my office and don't feel like picking up the call right then and there, when I know it's someone selling something and I'd rather let it go to voicemail). Any suggestions?

Sorry can't be turned off. You could instead of using DND use FWD to VM press f984 and it makes no sound. f#984 turn off.

I appreciate the suggestion, but using f984 doesn't really help me because most times it's when I am already receiving a call. Feature 984 can only be turned on when there isn't a call coming through my set. I want to have the capability of seeing a call, or hearing a call and deciding I don't want to take it at that moment and send it to voice mail, that's why I use DND, because I can force a call that's already ringing to go to voicemail. Thanks again, would have been a great option.

Any other ideas? Is there not a way to turn off sounds? I managed to turn off the 'missed call chime' and the 'held call chime'....there has to be a way!!

Depends how the door phone was programmed.

I think it is possible to have the door phone rings sets instead, then do a chime after so many rings.

Chimes work off the page zone, if you dont want chimes or pages then get tech to remove you from the zone.

Or do F86 (music ON), turn you volume way down, then do F#86 (music OFF) and see if that helps.

No there isn't anyway to turn it off and DND only turns off the ringer or audio to the phone the call still goes thru the rings except slient.

By door phone, do you mean main, central phone? If so, that is my phone.

Is there perhaps a way of turning down the volume of such chimes/noises?

Curly this is his phone not a Door phone. Please tell him about the tone for DND.

Well my phone is a the main phone for the whole office. When I turn my phone onto DND, I hear a sound.. whether you want to call it a chime or a beep, there is a sound. Is there any way to turn that sound off, or turn the volume of it down?

The tiny little half a second beep you hear soon as you put it into DND?
As per cooks answer , no.

If your concerend about who you answer , then I suggest to use the BLIND Transfer option in voice mail.....when you see the call you can choose to except or not.
Thats the only suggestion I can think of.

The sound is a 'doooo-deeee' and is very loud and others around me have complained of the sound. How do I go about using the Blind Transfer and how exactly does it work?

Yes beacuse I programmed the button to be DND, and when I press it, it comes up "Do not Disturb" and when I press it again, it comes up "Allow Calls"..

Does DND really force the call to vmail or rather continue to flash in the background?.

DND is not designed realy for what you want.

I dont think there is any option for "I only want to answer some calls" on any phone system that I know of aside from Call Screening on the voice mail system, sorry..I called it Blind Transfer above by mistake.

So the only options are maybe the Call Screening method if your vmail system supports it (see your vmail user guide, or navigate your options)....better yet have your vendor come in and set it up and test.
Call comes in and vmail answers, the caller is asked to record the name...vmail calls you, you hear name and you decide to except the call or send to voicemail to leave a msg.
