Hi All,

We installed DNA 5.5 + SP3 on a Windows 2003 Server. We installed the permanent license before shipping it out to the customer and tested it at our lab.

At the site, they simply changed the DNA Server IP address to that of their network requirement. But when trying to log in to any DNA application, it says "user license limit reached".

I've read from here the usual fix is to restart the computer but the customer still get the error every time.

I had them view License Administration and they say the Customer Name and Customer ID are blank, when they try to view the license, it shows "Group licenses by: All Number of licenses: (blank). I will try to have them reinstall the license file.

1. Did the IP change have anything to do with this error?
2. Will uninstalling ELM then reinstalling require me to acquire a new license from Ericsson/Aastra?

Any ideas would be helpful.

Hi

Are you sure that they change only the IP address?
Does the customer have also change the domain?

changing the IP address will not require a new license, like fouesnant said, a domain change will wipe the license, just reinstall it and the server should work again (restart RDS service after installing the license)

Thanks for your replies. I asked if they joined it to the domain but they said no. I had them try and install the license which was valid before we sent it out but they got the error" Failed to install license. Fingerprint information is incorrect". Anyway, they had generated a new fingerprint and am waiting for the new license. I will keep you informed of the outcome.

what version of ELM? 2.1.4? the IP address now makes license invalid, but you have found this out already. There are many more checks now in ELM than before (easy to tell you version, the logo is Aastra in 2.1.4)

thanks parnum, that is very helpful info. can you verify whether it is applicable to version 2.1.3 which came default with DNA 5.5?

i am still waiting for their feedback on whether the new license worked and will update this thread once I get word.

okay, the new license worked but users had to be recreated as they still ran into the user license limit error using the old ones configured.

thanks to you all.

by the way, is there anywhere in infochannel I could find documentation on (DNA)ELM for versions 2.1.3 above? The only info I could find is that the DNA license is tied to the NIC but not necessarily the IP address.

2.1.3 was the one with the big changes, 2.1.4 is the same but says Aastra not Ericsson, but they are really the same for checking the details. I have details of the checkpoints, I just have to find them... which is the hard part :)

all along, i've been installing DNA 5.5 for customers without knowing about the new licensing check points. all i can say is whew!

as usual, thanks again parnum.
