I have a sonic wall PRO 4060. I would like to setup a DMZ.

When I try to assign a static external (internet) IP address I get an error that says Subnet on this interface overlaps with another interface.

When creating a DMZ do you give it an external or private IP address?

Thanks

i already did the port forwarding on the soho but it did not work it is droping tcp packets. the reason i asked about rdc is cause i have a problem with it not allowing me to logon to a comp (different client and situation). I get connected to the computer and when i go to logon, it tells me the account is not authorized. any insights to what this prob could be. The os is Windows media center

you may wish to try this forum:
There are a lot of forums you can find on there... that's a link to a windows sp general forum.

I have no idea why it would say that when trying to logon - i've also never used Media Center - always Xp Pro.

As for the soho issue, you may try to find another soho user or look through the help available from sonicwall.. i'm sorry i couldn't help you more.

well i have an associate that understands the rules you gave me. but the prob is there is to many variables in the rules if you could give an example setup of the rules that might help clearify them

thx

oh i have another prob i have another client that when he rdcs into a server only the printer connected directly to the comp is reconnized on the server but the network printer is not any ideas?

The only variables I used are private IP and Public IP (where those equal my private IP 10.0.0.100 and my public Ip 155.212.xxx.xxx)

The others are exactly as it reads in my NAT policy setup.

Again my firewall may be quite different being a PRO 2040 vs. a SOHO. but the principle is the same.

ok my client only uses 192.168.168.xxx

you have been very helpful andy thank you

I found a soho which i can use to play with so i will try to set it up according to those rules and see how it goes

if you have info on the other problem i would be most apreciative. I canot find out the solution cause i am running home as well and all my printers show up using rdc including the network printer i have here in the office

thank you
