Hello all!
Newbie here - have a IP412 installation that is up and running w/ a dozen IP phones. I am putting my first digital phone 4424D+ (via DS20 expansion module) onto the switch.

When the user dials, they are not hearing the normal tones that you would normally hear when dialing on a normal POTS line with a touch tone phone. I believe that all buttons have the same tone.

Anyone know why this is happening and how I can change it so it sounds like a "normal" phone? I don't have this problem with the IP phones so I am thinking it is a configuration issue with the digital sets.

Thanks, in advance, for your help (This forum has been a big help! )

Does it work well ?
if it is oly the tones you here then forget it
i personaly don't know anybody who knows the difference in tones and can tell wich number is pressed
some things are just the way they are

Hello.

This is also a problem that we reported to Avaya more than a year ago. If the Digital Phone is connected to the ports on a Base Controller, the true DTMF Tones are played. If the phones are connected to a DS Expansion Module, it sounds like you are pressing the buttons on a toy piano.

After a year, the Engineers at Avaya said they are not going to fix it. Sorry..our customers hate it, but they are stuck.
