Hi,

Once I have created the virtual adapter scsi on the vio and lpar with HMC, I am able to use the command below on AIX command line of the VIO to remove the slot:

drmgr -r -c slot -s U9117.570.10E4FDE-V17-C78 -d 0

It put the status "inactive" to the slot (I see that on the HMC) and on the VIO, the command lsslot -c slot doesn't show the slot.

How can I remove, with an AIX command line, (without the HMC), the slot 78, so I will not see it anymore on HMC?

Sorry for my english, i'm french.
I'm learning the concept DLPAR, so maybe I use some wrong term...

How can I remove, with an AIX command line, (without the HMC), the slot 78.

Maybe It better to say, to remove the virtual client adapter on the slot 78.

If i understood your problem corretly! I think you need to remove the scsi first from the LPAR then you attempt removing it from the VIO!

I add my scsi virtual client adapter with the HMC. No problem.

I want to undo what I have done on the HMC but without using the HMC, using the AIX command-line.

Is my procedure is OK?

----
On the VIO:
rmdev -dl vhostX -R
drmgr -r -c slot -s U9117.570.10E4FDE-V17-C78 -d 0

Reboot of the partition, so the vscsi virtual client adapter become "not required".

I can remove it with the HMC --> No Problem.
But I want to do, it's removing it without the HMC, only using command-line. Is it possible and is my procedure is OK?
----

Thank you.

I don't think it is recommended by IBM to use the drmgr command!

I've never used the drmgr manually so i won't be able to clearly say that your procedure is ok or not! But if you are saying that it does the job so why not!

Just for more information, you can veiw these nice sites for VIO:

I find that the command drslot do the same of drmgr.
Maybe I'm better to use it.

Anyone can give me a procedure on how to remove manually virtual scsi adapter cleint on AIX command-line of the VIO?

I found only how to do with HMC...

---

For the double posting, sorry.
I thought it was a good idea to explain my problem more clearly. Thank you.

IMHO you have to do it from the HMC, but you could script it from the LPAR with ssh access to the HMC. You'd have to set that up first. Google for p5 HMC CLI.

I can't access to the HMC via SSH. We don't have access and we can't have access. Only IBM. It's in our contract.

I prefer to execute command better than click on a mouse in an interface. I find it more useful and quick to execute command.

So, you are sure it's not possible to do it on AIX command-line on the VIO (or I/OS)?

Strange that you don't have ssh access to the HMC! Sometimes it is needed speacilly when you troubleshoot RMC Errors remotly! In your case you would have to go physically to the HMC to access it which i don't see it convenient!

Any way, why don't you ask IBM to do it for you? If it was under the contract not to then you have a strong reason for your request?!? Just a suggestion.

I will try to google for that as well and i will let you know once i find something useful!

Regards,
Khalid

Thanks a lot.

I continue to search too... I find, I will post it.

Hello,

By default in the HMC, the ssh protocol is closed.

you need to enable ssh in the firewall in the networks settings of the HMC.

You will need to reboot the HMC and after it will works.

Bye
