Hello, I've recently started building a new system, expox motherboard, xp 2100 cpu, western digital 80 gb hard drive and windows 98se. I've installed 98, upgraded to explorer 6 got all the other updates from micorsoft but still keep getting all sorts of messages, mshtml.dll error, wininet, shdocvw.dll,msxml3.dll, page faults of all kinds, so reformatted drive and started over again, still the problems are present, also installed norton system works, found errors in registary and fixed them but errors keep coming up when I'm working on the internet etc... Any ideas would be greatfull, I'm at my wits end of what to do?

Hi,
On first reading I am wondering if you have tried to do too much without rebooting. Have you tried to update as much as possible before rebooting your system.

With many upgrades and installations you need to take the process a step at a time. Upgrade then reboot - upgrading or installing many things at once can cause problems with your registry and programmes etc.

Regards. It not what you say but how you say it that counts...apparently.

This is a very common Problem, I have a Brand New Thinkpad with Windows XP Pro and I am still having problems with IEX 6.
It crashes often with Mshtml.dll and sometimes other dll's.
WHAT can be Done????

So you had registry problems after doing a format and clean install... Was this before or after you installed Norton Systemworks... It sounds like some application is causing problems, Norton Systemworks could definitely do it...

I'd recommend you do a clean install, do your updates, and run the browser before you install any other programs. If it runs fine, then you know its some other piece of software, if it still gives you problems, I'd see if you have all the latest drivers for your hardware.

Matt
