Hi All,

Just had a cable modem fitted, and to do so, had to install a D-Link 538 NIC.

Since its been istalled the performance of the overall PC has degraded. The mouse gets very sporadic.

I have the latest drivers, but still occurs.

System Spec is P3 450mhz, 198mb RAM, Ample HDD space.

Anyone else had problems or no of a fix for this?

The mouse is so jumpy at times its almost unworkable.

Add more memory! You have the bare minimum to handle a cable modem. In fact, I'm surprised it evens works at all! You should have at least 256mb of RAM for Cable or DSL. There's always a better way...

Howdy:

Not sure what "tviman" is talking about, but you don't need more memory.. I was running DSL on a P2-450 with 64 megs of ram and it worked just fine..

What are you running for an OS ??

SESaskDFC is right about not needing more memory. Try all the usual things. Run scandisk, Defrag, Empty temp files. If nothing works borrow a mouse from somebody and see if there is any difference.

Good Luck
