DL380 Drive question

We are using our DL380 in a 4 drive hardware Raid5 configuration. If a drive dies can we replace it with a different speed drive. Example Ultra SCSI2 with 7200 RPM drive. Can this be replaced with a 10,000 or 15,000 drive will the faster drives just slow down to the slowest drive in the system? What about putting a Ultra SCSI3 drive in, again will it just slow down to the Ultr SCSI2?

Any one with any answers?
I have read a couple of articles that say this will work, anyone out the agree or disagree?

Hi,

If you replace the drive with a higher speed drive, the drive wont slow down as such, but you wont get the maximum possible throughput/transfer rates that the faster speed drive offers as a result of the increased speed.
ie like running a V8 engine on 7 cylinders...
A tip is to always buy an extra drive of the original specs
when you build your RAID array.

I would love to buy a drive with the exact specs but............
We have 3 servers with 3 different drive speeds and of course no money so we were hoping to get by with one drive.
We hope to never need it but if we do I need to find out if it will work.
