I just got a DL360 and I believe that the CPU settings are incorrect (SW1 1-8 all ON) because BOTH CPU failure light stay on. It will not POST at all.

Iv'e pulled the CPUs (P3 866/256/133/1.75V) and tried each one in CPU-1 position. Same Results (No display, No POST).

Can anyone give me the correct SW1 settings for these CPUs?

Thanks
Rich

I probably can Monday, United States CST time...what generation dl360? G1? I imagine so, from the cpu specs...

From the MB layout's Iv'e found online, it looks like a G1. Definately doen't match the G2 or G3.

That's what I figured...I have a few in the office, and I will check, and maybe post some info from OARS, which is an online reference tool for HP/Compaq servers.

I physically looked at the MoBo, and the way the dip switches on the one I looked at are as follows...
SW1:
1---off
2---off
3---on
4---off
5---off
6---off

SW2:
1---off
2---off
3---on
4---on
5---off
6---on
7---on
8---on

I have a G1 (a few of them), and the one I looked at has a PIII, 1GHz, socket 370. The way you can always tell a G1 is by the cream-colored front cover. G2 and above have the dark grey covers.

Thanks!
Sad to report, that didn't work either ... So I'm guessing either BOTH CPUs are bad ... or the MoBo.

50-50 shot I guess. So I went ahead and ordered a pair of CPUs (only $20). At least if it's the MoBo I can use the CPUs elseware.

Thanks again.

Hmmmm, New CPUs didn't work either.

Tried 4 different memory modules. Does this need anything special for memory? I'm using standard PC133 128MB modules. They are 8 chip though ... does it need parity?

The power supply is new.

I always use Compaq parts...here are the part #'s for the RAM...

64MB Registered 133MHz SDRAM DIMM 159225-001
128MB Registered 133MHz SDRAM DIMM 164278-001
128MB Registered 133MHz SDRAM DIMM (Alternate) 164278-001
256MB Registered 133MHz SDRAM DIMM 159304-001
256MB Registered 133MHz SDRAM DIMM (Alternate) 159377-001
512MB Registered 133MHz SDRAM DIMM 159227-001
512MB Registered 133MHz SDRAM DIMM (Alternate) 177628-001
1GB Registered 133MHz SDRAM DIMM 163902-001

The part # for the motherboard for that proc is 173837-001. If you have the 224928-001, then that is specific to 1.0 GHz processors. Try the MoBo next,I guess. I never take a chance with third party parts, especially RAM.
