Hi all !
I'm using AP 6.02
I have DIVX PRO 5.01 codec installed and can see it in premiere.
I also have fraunhofer mp3 codec installed but this don't show up in premiere.

Is there a trick do make it happen or what ????

Regards

I managed to do it only with another program like this:
1. Make your video, without audio compression
2. Load video into VirtualDub
3. Set video process to "Direct Stream Copy"
4. Set audio compression to MP3, bitrate, ...
5. Save avi file

Note: You need professional version of the mp3 codec to encode (up to 128k), or advanced version (up to 56k). Normal version does not allow encoding.

Hey people, I too have this same difficulty, but in Premiere... I'm running 6.02, and I can open divx3 files and save them as divx5 which is all I'm trying to do (I've got a RealMagic XCard with hardware divx4/5 support). However I can preview my divx3 file in premiere and it has audio, but the moment I drag it into the timeline I lose the audio completely, nothing audible, and more to the point, nothing visual in the expanded timeline audio waveform. The divx3 files are avi's, and it's curious that they preview but will not preview in the timeline, all my audio settings are correct for previewing, I am familiar with AP6.02... Premiere detects that it is an MP3 compatible stream in the clip properties, and we all know Premiere 6 imports MP3's, so someone please tell me what's going on and what I can do about it! I can provide more information if neccesary. I'm sure it's just something simple, someone please enlighten me!

Thanx :)

I guess this is something related to MP3 codec, try to use another MP3 code instead of fraunhofer and see what happens

Enabling use of divx5.0.2 codec from Premiere:

Quote from

"Project > Project Settings > General.

Change the editing mode in the box that's just popped up to "Video for Windows", then change the display from "general" to "video".

Open the pull down box under "compressors" and there it should be!

Richard."

It worked for me! Many thanks to rjpurves.

Yeah I'm having the same problem Quiver. It's extremely irritating, this also happens when I import divx5 movies.
Found out anything yet?

Quiver and Petruz, I'm having exactly the same problem.
Some time ago I created my own video and exported it using DivX with MP3 audio. Now I wanted to edit this video to add some new sequences. I can import the file into Premiere without problem, but when I add it into the timeline I lose the audio.

I found a workaround, but I'd prefer not to have to use it. What I do is extract the audio from the DIVX file using VirtualDub and generate a separate WAV file. Then I add it to the timeline as a separate audio track and render again.

Do you know of any other solution? If so, please let me know.

Thanks!
