To divert to a mobile do you have to direct it to a speed call?

This question has a few more elements to it but to answer your point:
If you use call rerouting (programming the controller) you would probably have to. However if you use the phone (call forwarding FAC or menus) you can do it by using the actual mobile number or a speed call.

I am forwarding from a 5020 handset but when i enter the forward number as "9 mobile number" it does not work, but if i forward to "*3000" it does.

*3000 is a speed call to "9 Mobile number"

I have certainly forwarded calls using the actual mobile number... using the FAC for call forward and then the mobile number.

Maybe there is a barring issue? Can you actually dial the mobile number from the phone you are trying to forward?

I haven't done the online training yet but I have done a few Teleworker installations.

Do you have to assign a public ip address to the teleworker server if it is in server only mode?

No as far as I am aware you dont require a public routeable IP address on the teleworker in server mode only however what you do need is a true DMZ for the server to sit in and your firewall must allow all the relevant tcp/ip ports
