Hi Guys,

It's been a while since I set this up, but just in case I thought I would check. With the Linux based systems there is no need to amend the SMTP Sender (or receiver) in the VMPro client? Everything is configured through Manager on the IPO's and the rest is sorted out automatically for the SMTP Sync.

Having a senior moment.

Cheers.

Hello,

I have found a much greater success rate using the Vmail Pro SMTP configuration. Technically speaking, it can be done either way, but I've found it to be a cleaner solution using the settings that you configure through VMPro.

Not only is that the way the software is designed to operate, but it is also much easier to troubleshoot as it provides logging capabilities - you'd have to run SysMon to capture trouble with SMTP coming out of your IPO - and is easier to amend and adjust if need be. Changes to the SMTP server in Manager will require a reboot, while changes to the Vmail configuration will generally take place instantaneously and not disrupt service. In some cases, you will have to restart the voicemail service in order to get certain changes to take, but that in and of itself is much cleaner than having to schedule an IPO reboot.

you need correctly set the smtp settings in the VM Pro.
Particularly you ned to get the email addresses correct.
everything else is good togo

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Looks like it doesn't require anything with the Linux App servers. All Synced up without any changes required to the SMTP settings. Just set the correct voicemail settings in Manager (Distributed and Centralised where appropriate) and it does the rest. Still checking things over but I'll let you know if I find any weirdness.

So much easier than setting it up with IIS!
