Hi Folks,

We have 2 ISDN2's providing 4 lines on one number -- we also have a DDI number.

All lines ring on all extensions -- I want to be able to have the DDI ring on all extensions with a distinctive ring !

Is that possible ?

Thanks

Ian

never tried this myself so you will need to play with it a bit,,, worth a shot tho it may not be what you want...

FEATURE *6
Select a distinctive ring to help differentiate between your telephone and others nearby.
1.Press FEATURE *6.
2.Enter the ring type number (1 to 4).
3.Press HOLD

Hi Gibblett,

I would like the DDI number to ring on all extensions with a distintive ring to differentiate it from the normal number ringing in.

Hope that makes sense

Ian

There is 4 distinctive rings to be used for the system, can be assigned to lines or set, when assigned will not give you the option of setting it elsewhere.

Hi Ironhorse,

Do I take it your answer means I can't ?

Thanks

Ian

Under line setting you should have that option unless you used them somewhere else.

Hi Ironhorse,

I haven't used them anywhere -- How do I set up the DDI number on the BCM 50 ? at the moment it just rings in over the top of our exisiting 4 lines !

Thanks

Ian

Hi Folks,

I assume I'm missing something fundamental about the operation of the system.

My initial thoughts are that I need the system to know that a diiferent trunk (ie the DDI (DID)) exists -- not sure how to do that ! I guess if I could do that then I could give that a distinctive ring on incoming ?

Thanks

Ian

Hi Curlycord

Its good old BT speak Direct Dial In.

So we have 2 ISDN2E's providing us with 4 lines all with the number 255266

We have a DDI number that will ring in on any of those lines (as long as it's free) with the different number 255201.

What I'd like to be able to do is identify that number ringing in !

Thanks

Ian

Hi Curlycord,

OK I know I'm being dumb -- found the target line tried to change it to 255201, it reports I can only enter a string of 1 to 3 characters ! I guess that's what you mean by the XXX, but what three I wonder ?

Thanks

Ian

I am assuming 255201 is the DDI or received digits, you will need to find the target line associated, then just change the ring type.
If using element manager then go to Target Lines and look for 255201....then maybe a column to change the ring type?

Hi Curlycord.

Aha, that's the thing, there is nothing in the Target lines in element manager !

And not just 255201 missing absolutley nothing in there at all !

I did find where to change the length of characters in the box so changed that to 11 to put in full number including STD code.

Blimey is it still called Standard Trunk Dialling ?

Many Thanks

Ian
