Hello all,
I am trying to use distiller for the first time. I have created a watch dir and am trying to process a file. The file is a.txt and only has the word test in it. When I process the file I get the following errors.
Start Time: Friday, July 22, 2005 at 2:39 PM

Source: a.txt
Destination: C:\DELL\out\a.pdf
Adobe PDF Settings: C:\DELL\folder.joboptions
%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: ÿþt ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
Distill Time: 0 seconds (00:00:00)
**** End of Job ****

I am sure I am missing something, but not sure what it is. I can process files using the print to in Word.

Thanks in advance

I guess I am missing the correct .ps format.
Can I take the text file, add some code, save it as a .ps file then run it through the distiller?

I am trying to grab straight text from a mainframe (FTP'd to the in (Watch directory) and convert into pdf.

Is there some simple code to put in the text file that will set it up to be read and processed through the distiller.

Thanks

Distiller processes PostScript language files, not text files.

That said, you can write a pretty simple PostScript program that will work with "straight text from a mainframe".

So your process would be to:

1) produce a text file
2) prepend some PostScript code to it
3) drop the new, "combined" file into a watched folder

This is not the proper forum for discussing PostScript programming, however. I suggest you post a message, with a sample of your text file, in the PostScript forum.
