Due to catastrophic failure had to rebuild backup server from scratch.

Win2kServer, SP2
ArcServe 2000 Advanced, SP4
All clients at Sp4 level.

Job is GFS Differentials, 5 day, Friday full.

The job yesterday got everything, but I have ONE big problem:

More than half the jobs that recorded as 'sucessful' and logged as such have dissapeared. What I mean is I can't see the backed up data via ANY kind of Restore. By Tree, By Session, By Query.. it doesn't matter. More than half of my data is not on tape.

WHY? How can I fix this?

Tonight I'll tell arcserve to treat todays jobs as 'full', via the 'exeptions' tab. Maybe that will help.

Do a scan of the tape and see if the size of the data on tape is approximately equal to the source.

Merge the tape into the DB

modifying the GFS job will automatically run a FULL tonight.

cheers

Spoeshalyst So it Shall be Written!
So it Shall be Done!!
