Displaying subreport grp totals on matching main report grp sectio

I have a main report that has a single grouping, Revenue Center. In this group's footer, I total/display charges. I have a subreport that also has the same layout except is pulls payments and totals/displays in the subreport's group footer. The two reports are linked by revenue center.

What I want to do is display the total payments for the various revenue centers in the main report group footer. What I keep getting is the payments for all the revenue centers on every revenue center on the main report.

Where do I place the subreport so that the associated revenue center for payments only displays on the main report matching revenue center? Do I need to use a shared variable?

Place the subreport in the revenue group header or footer, and LINK by the revenue center.

This will cause the subreport to filter for each revenue center.

This sounds like what you tried, so you may have some other factor involved, check the record selection in the subreport.

Your correct about the other factor. Actually what I've found is that the revenue center is the second table(subreport data) is a different type of revenue center so it basically would not find a match to the revenue center on the main report. The two tables are linked by a charge(invoice) number.

I will have to rethink how to go about this. In the meantime, I've just added the subreport in the report footer. Not exactly what I wanted but it will work for now.
