Displaying Recordsets as Datasheets

I was wondering if there's a way to view all the data contained in a recordset in the datasheet view. I was thinking I could accomplish this by having a blank table set up and copy all the recordset information over to the table then viewing the table as a subform. This could probably work out, but then again there might be an easier way to do view the data.

Any help?

dakota:

One of the form's properties is Default View. There are three options: Single Form, Continuous Forms and Datasheet.

Datasheet is just what it says.

Continuous Forms is similar to setting up the detail line in a report.

Hope this helps.

Maybe I misspoke in what I am trying to do; I'm very new to Access. I want to put together a multi-user application but don't want to start until I know how I might put it all together.

When a form is pulled up, I can view it in form view, looking at just one record at a time. When switched to datasheet view, all the records are seen on the screen. Simple. The recordset is built to fit into a form view quite easily, how the recordset object moves through the records one at a time. However, I would like to know if I can take that recordset object and display all the data it contains on the screen at once, looking like what the datasheet view looks like.

Well, as Larry said, you would set up a form with the recordset as its record source (Form.RecordSource="recordset"). Then set the default view of the form to Datasheet.

Of course you can view a datasheet by opening the table or running a query from design view and clicking on the datasheet view. However, I presume you do not want users to have to do this for themselves and doing the above is realy the only way of doing it. Your form can be a full form or a subform.

The Continuous Form property is the one that allows you to see all the information in form view but sequentially list the records one under another.

Not really clear as to what you may want. ljprodev@yahoo.com
