Hi,

I have been reading up on the ways to get Netware's X-Window based Java GUI to display on a Windows Desktop, using a Win32 X-Window package such as Hummingbird Exceed or NCD X-Ware. However, I haven't had much success getting it to work. I understand the Netware end of the process, but I don't think I'm configuring the Windows end correctly. Has anyone out there managed to get this working?

Er, there is no need. Run ConsoleOne for Windows from the server and you are away laughing.

SYS:pUBLIC\mgmt\ConsoleOne\1.2\bin\ConsoleOne.exe

as well as

SYS:pUBLIC\mgmt\ConsoleOne\1.2\rconj.exe

for remote console to server.

Thanks for the reply. I know that console one can be run from a Windows workstation, but the X-Window java console can be run also, if an X-Window server is running on the Windows workstation.

The reason I want to do this is because certain Netware processes have to use the graphical environment. An example would be the upgrade to e-Directory. Part of this upgrade executes in the graphical environment. If this process stops with an error on the graphical environment, you are unable to see this using just RConsole. Not a problem if your server is local (as it was in my case, luckily), but if you have a remote server, then you're in trouble unless you can get somebody to click on the OK button in the graphical environment.

Cheers,
