Hello,

I'm using BO XI Deski. I have a report where a main record has multiple child records (notes) that I am putting in the same report. I would like only the most recent child record to be displayed on the report.

here is how the records are structured:

Main Record Case:
Case.number, Case.Name, Case.Client, Case.DateOpened

Each main case has many child records, in this instance, notes. The report now looks like this:

CaseNum CaseName CaseOpened CaseNotes CaseNoteAdded
Case1234 Smith v. Jones 1/25/2010 Note 1 1/25/2010
Case1234 Smith v. Jones 1/25/2010 Note 2 2/25/2010
Case1234 Smith v. Jones 1/25/2010 Note 3 3/2/2010
Case1234 Smith v. Jones 1/25/2010 Note 4 7/5/2010

I would only like one row to appear grabbing Note4 as it is the most recent. The notes are updated weekly and this is a weekly report I'm creating.

Thank you!
Lisa

Go to report->selection formula->GROUP and enter:

{table.casenoteadded} = maximum({table.casenotadded},{table.casenumber})

This assumes a group on {table.casenumber}.

Thank you, that makes sense. Sorry for such a basic question, but I have been using Breaks not Groups. what is the difference?

Can you confirm that you are using Crystal Reports? I don't know what you mean by "break". There is a separate forum for Business Objects Solutions.

Please try forum393. Sorry I misdirected you originally.
