Hi all,

I had recently setup up a new exec. on a Meridian 3904, 31 button with display, phone. The phone was basically setup already and all I had to do was change the name on the display over to the new exec. He has complained about the display showing "3 new callers" and wants to know what it means and how to get rid of it. He also stated that he checked all his new voicemails and still gets that display.

He is on the east coast and I'm on the west coast so there's no way for my to pyhsically check his phone and we don't have any 3904 sets over here to troubleshoot either. Just wondering if anyone can tell me what this means and how to get rid of it? Thanks!

Hi.

It's part of the directory feature.
If you press the directory key (the one that looks like an open book) it brings up a menu - Personal Directory, Call Log (Callers List), Call Log (Redial List).
The callers list shows all previous callers, and the redial list, the numbers you've previously dialled, both up to a maximum of 100 entries. It displays both the CPND name, and the number.
By selecting the callers list, you can review the list, delete individual entries, or delete the entire list.
Reviewing the list removes the "x new callers" message from the display.
The call log can be set to record all calls, only unanswered calls, or no calls, though I'm not sure exactly where that programming is on the phone.
The information is in the M3902/3/4 quick reference guide.

Hope this helps

Dave.

To change or remove the Option, Press the options key then use the arrow keys to scroll through th menu. When you get to Call log press the select button. That is where to change the option after making changes press the done button then quit.
There should also be a soft key while the phone is idle that says callers list and redial to see the information so that you don't have to press the directory key for this information.

Thanks alot for the replies guys, I'll forward that info along to see if that helps.

Hi gbixtelcom--did you do a "Force DownLoad Update"?

I'm having a simular issue.

I have three lines on my phone. My own and two others in the department.

I have two issues with the feature.

1) It appears to be logging all calls coming into all three lines. I only want it to log calls to the PDN.

2)My Display will say, for example, 6 calls, but when I go into callers there is only 1. If I just quit the display at this point and another calls comes in, that original 1st caller is gone without me deleting it.

We just had a change in support for our phones. The old company would have come in and taken care of this for us and their charges were reasonable. This company was disolved :(. The new company will charge us $100/hour and it takes them three times as long to fix things. So...I am a total newbee here and need to know enought about the phones and the OTM to do the basic setup and troubleshooting.

From the other postings, I'm going to assume my first step is a firmware upgrade. I have no idea how that is done.

Any help is appreciated.

An excellent guide to updating firmware is in faq798-4738.
