Does anyone know how to get the user name display in the AD Users and Computer to match what the Display Name property for a user is?

After our migration from Novell NDS to Windows 2000 AD we have some users showing in ADU&C with Fname, Lname and some showing as LName, FName. We want all users to be listed as LName, FName. We successfully made a change to the DisplaySpecifiers node in ADSI so that all newly created users get created and displayed as LName, FName. We also have a script that changes all the Display Name properties for all users to LName, FName, but doing this does not change the way the name is displayed in ADU&C.

Thanks

right-click the user and select the Rename option.
By memory another dialog box opens where you get more options for name change. This should resolve the problem you're having

Claudek, you are correct that will accomplish the task but one thing I left out of my post is. I'm looking for a way to do this programtically or via a script, since we have hundreds of users being displayed incorrectly.

Thanks

Ah ok, that sounds like an ADSI thing. While I have played with it (think you need to move the command name(CN) you want over the current comman name), best to ask other experts. Ask on the vbscript page:
forum329 as well as some good scripters there who probably have done this.
