I have to rename a couple thousand pics, so I created a form for this. In it there is a subform in continuous view that displays the names of the image files (from a table). I also want to show a thumbnail of each. So far, I get the same pic in all records and it changes when selecting another record. How do I get each image to display in the appropriate records???

Yep. I would have been wasting your time if you had 2007/2010. It is a pretty big capability that they added. I will have to admit I was wrong on this one. They did a lot with images in 2007, I think I just forgot about this. I did it the old school way for so long. It used to be that embedding images would quickly bloat your database. In 2007 they introduced this new property to an image control. They introduced attachment fields, and they redesigned how OLE objects store data. You can add gigs of data into attachments and about a gig into OLE without any bloat. So there is basically three new ways to store and render images.

Yep - it was Access 2007/10 - I'd missed the fact that that was a no no for you. I then thought you should be able to simply emulate the exact same effect using the OnPaint event and a single line of code for the detail section, but again that event was introduced in Access 2007 ...

The on paint event exists prior to 2007 since it is an event of the form section. But even though it exists you can not do it in the paint event. It will lock the form if you attempt.
