I have a norstar T7316 phone. I need to set it to display the incoming caller ID. Currently it will display only when I pick up the handset. How do I change this setting. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are you using BCMs?

If so go to Services...Telephony Services......System DNs...............Active Set DNs..........Line access.......Line assignment.... highlight the line and click y for caller ID set. This should take care of it.

On a nosrtar you want to go into TELCO Features, under terminals and sets,if there are lines assigned to the set you need to go into Feature assign under telco features and set caller Id set to yes. You can also change display name or number and set called id to yes.

I am not using BCMs. I have to set this directly on the phone.

I apologize for my ignorance but I am not getting the setting you talked about danthephoneman. Can you walk me through the steps. First time programming the phone. Thanks

Feature ** that is correct if it is still at default. what type of set are you programming from and do you have the correct overlay?

Ok I'm almost as new as it gets to this and I too am trying to set this caller id up like mdbman66 but Feature ** doesn't bring up any menus, is there information I need to get from my work as to what it might be? I've got a Nortel T7316E and I unfortunately have no idea what an overlay is, much less whether or not I have the correct one.

There is a lot of confusion about CID. If you already have incoming CID when picking up handset, you might not need to do any programming. The incoming CID appears after 2 rings on Norstar AND ONLY IF caller has CID. If caller has no CID nothing appears.

I have the correct overlay for next and show. I do have CID ability but one phone is only showing the CID after they pick up the handset. I would like the CID to show while the line is ringing.

I seem to have a similar issue currently using the M7310 every time a call comes in it says Line001Transfer

How do I get the caller ID to show up?

I tried going into
terminalsets/telco features/

then going to called ID and changing that to a Y

but that doesn't seem to work.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

I think you need the Norstar 101 forum but Telephony 101 is a prerequisite.

You do need the CID trunk card... you do have that don't you???

depending on software you may only be able to see on 1 set display...there is a feature code to show it while ringing on others

It was working fine before, and one day it stopped. I was trying to configure the number of rings before the call is sent to voicemail, but not sure how that would have effected it.

You have to have at least 2 rings before going to vmail in order to recieve the Caller ID information. Did you set the rings lower than this? If so that is probably your cuplprit.
