I have 8 spare disks on a D1000 that I want to use as a single volume on my Solaris 8 installation. I was told that I could stripe/concatenate all these disks into one logical volume using Solstice DiskSuite and mount it as if it were one single disk. Could some one tell me the detailed procedure for doing this, preferable from the command line?

Thanks in advance

I have already been there and downloaded those documents. The reason I posted the message here is because I do not have time to go through all those lengthy documents. Unless you have something better to offer, thanks for the link.

If you dont have the time to read the manual, you should not be messing with Soltice. Your disks are a very integral part of you system and without the proper knowledge to implement the solution you are bound to have a failure.

First put the disks under Sostice control.

metadb -a c1t2d0s2 etc etc.

then

metainit d1 1 2 c2t0d0s2 c1t1d1s2

(Above is a stripe consisting off 2 disks. For the stripe to work you have to make sure all disks are the same size.)

Or if you want to cat them. This is a cat with 2 disks reating 1 disk.

metatinit d1 2 1 c2t0d0s2 c1t1d1s2

Should be enough to get you going.
