Hello all, I've only just noticed after recieving a warning message from Bootvis, that my disk write caching is disabled. Ok I thought, and went into my HDDs properties, then into Policies, only to find that the whole field is greyed out, although the "Optimize for performance" option IS checked.

It's got me worried that caching IS disabled which would be hitting my performance correct?

Microsoft offer no support for this, I only found a vague reference to it related to Iomega Zip drive drivers and Win 2000.

Googling it offers little more, yet it did give me the impression that it could be a driver I have installed which is causing the grey out.

Any ideas chaps?

TIA

Bootvis is a discontinued product . And yes it has a fault in it that reports disk caching disabled.
Internal disks seem to get "optimize for performanse" on by default .
Removable drives howewer like ab external usb drive,
you can choose between "optimize for performance" or "quick removal"
