Using Timefinder, can I bcv a 18GB disk with 4GB hypers to a 36GB disk with 4GB hypers?

In our 3830 box, a 36G drive has 8 strips on it. Each of the 8 strips may be either a primary, a mirror, a BCV, or a BCV mirror.

AFAIK, because of this, setting up Timefinder to do what you want to do should not be that difficult, however, I would be clueless to assist you in this - as I last took an EMC class in 1Q this year.

BV :)

yes

it's the hypers (or meta's) that get BCV'd. Not the physical drive.

Physical disks (no matter what size 18/36/72/181 etc...) are split into logical volumes which are then presented to the host as physical volumes. A standard volume of 4gb on a 36 gb drive can be used as a bcv to be mirrored using timefinder against any other 4gb volume whether it be on a 181/72/36/18 etc...
