When my availabe disk space on C: is down to 1.93 Gig I cannot create new files in any way, saving, copying etc. Windows Explorer says that my disk is full and offers to use Disk Cleanup. I get the same in DOS ie the same reported free space and errors when I try to copy files that would make free space below 1.93 Gig. I have run Scandisk and there are no errors. Does anyone have a clue?? I would appreciate any help as I am in fear of losing all my data through file faults. I have thought I might have too many files is this possible? All the best.

We don't know the size of your HD, What programs your PC uses in the background, or how meny your running at one time. My suggestion is try running a few less programs/files
Or maybe it might be easier to backup all your files. Then
Fdisk & reformat, & reinstall your OS... On the other hand you might want to add an extra HD... GOOD LUCK !! If I cannot Blow It Up... Noone Can!!

I'm not sure i've seen your problem with that much free space left. I've seen it with a whole lot less than that free but you have almost 2 gigs. Have you deleted all the .tmp files and such in your Temp folder at c:\windows\temp? Have you cleared all your temporary internet files through internet options? I would suggest you run a virus scan too.
