I have a program summer 87 on a novell server. I trying to copy file from active to inactive database half way throught the program I get the "disk Full" error. The program has run fine before. It's running from a work station with exclusive on. So why the error now?

What version of Novell?
Are you doing this from within your program?
Some operations require temporary files which S87 attempts to create in the root directory. Your users probably don't have Write access there. To find out if this is the problem login to the server as Admin and run the program. If it works then it is a rights issue which you can solve by mapping the data directory aa a false root.

When Novell deletes a file, it stores it in its bin in case you want to Salvage it. I've notived that DOS reports a different free space than Windows and found that the free space in DOS does not include the Salvage space, whereas in Windows it does.

This means that there can be no free space in DOS but loads in Windows.

You need to make sure you Purge deleted files sometimes to make sure there is enough real free space.

Hope that helps.
