Is there a way to discover networks that are only connected via Branch Office Tunnels? I use Nortel's Contivity switch to connect some "island" type networks to the core. The networks in question are DHCP serviced by me, are "pingable" and consist of hubs/switches (snmp enabled) and a pile of end-user PCs. My management station never discovers these devices even though it can ping them and even telnet to the hubs/switches. There are about 30 of these networks running now all with network number starting at 10.124.x.x. Is there something I can do to force HPOV to discover these networks and devices? All these "tunnels" terminate on a single VPN box here on the main network and I can "see" this box on OV. Any suggestions are most appreciated.

Hi,

1. Can you verify that the devices are snmp manageable using snmpwalk ?
2. Have you tried using the 'loadhosts' command to force the devices in to HP OV
3. Are you sure that the devices aren't in your OV db - check with ovtopodump to see if they are in there ? Maybe you can't see them because they are being put in to an un-managed subnet.

Regards

Nigel.

Hi Nigel,

PERFECT. Did the loadhosts thing and very quickly found all I'm missing. This command is also going to go a long waty to my fixing thing for network operations to help them find thing on the map. Many Thanks for such a quick and expert response.
