I have a customer who is experiencing disconnected calls when going to cellphone vmail. I have only seen it happen on Nextel and only when you get the message "Please hold while the Nextel subscriber is located...". I get that message then the normal silence associated with this message then it disconnects every time. When I call the same Nextel phone and it rings then forwards to voicemail it works fine. My first thought was one of the timers but could not find which one it could be.
I am working with an opt. 11 with succession 3.0. They have 2 PRIs on TMDI cards(happens on both loops). The route is built as a DID route. Protocol is NI2 connected to 5ESS

You may take it as criticism, but I take it as we spent alot of time chasing the wrong problem based on your question and answers. It's not a Cell Vmail problem it is a disconnect while waiting problem. The Nortel has no way of knowing what the Cell provider is doing unless they send a connect or disconnect. there is a timer that can be made longer to fix the vendors problem.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Well thank you for your help that may be it I will give it a try.

On the DID route if I try the DSI timer it gives me this error code. SCH4787 DSI is not applicable for ISDN routes.

Post your RDB for the route the call is going out on.

Check DSEL on outgoing route: If set to VCE might need to be 3VCE to pass to the v mail. If the incoming route to vmail is set to 3 VCE it will reject the call. Just a tought. Try with a 3VCE trunk and see how it goes.
Good Luck!

Got my hands on a Tberd and proved that the problem was not in the PBX. Thanks for the help.

I had this problem with Bell South and it took 6 mounths and going up the ladder to get someone to fix it, they never did say what they found but all of a suden it started working.
