hi there, i am new to these forums so im trying them out with a great problem!
i have a Grouter from Linksys and a wireless USB card in my receiving computer. around two weeks ago i set up my connection and all was fine. however, now i find that it seems to "cut off" every five minutes or so. MY MSN messenger disconnects and any other programs running at that time to (eg-internet explorer)...therefore making it very hard to surf the net etc. But the wireless connection does not seem to have disconnected, but any program using the internet tells me there is no connection...any help would be AWESOME...thanks,adam

Have you tried to replace the cable between your router and cable modem?

yes i have changed the Ethernet cable, with no success, my computer still disconnects every 5minutes or so :(...HELP!!!

Are you running 802.1x authentication on your clients? If not, disable it.

Try the tool Netstumbler ( on another laptop (if available) to make sure the Wireless connection is Okay.
Perhaps you see a neighbour using the same Channel as your linksys.
Be sure that the Linksys uses only one Channel, and your Wireless card uses the same.
