I was wondering if anyone has attempted this? I am about to try this in our lab to test its feasibility for a DR test which I am doing in April. Although I've never had to do a full agent restore to the same hardware I suspect it should work. However due to our DR contract they are providing us with servers that are HP and we have Dell's. While I feel confident I can recover the Commserve/Media agent after that I'm a bit sketchy on the whole "disimilar Hardware" approach.

If you need to restore data only it's no problem. If you need to restore other things like registry to a server with a different chip set you might need to filter things or disable some overwrite option (check the restore options for the registry). Otherwise the restore might complete succesfully within CommVault while you're looking at a blue screen after a reboot.
