Our Exchange 5.5 server, running NT 4.0 Server, crashed today. This NT 4.0 server was the last of its kind, we have all windows 2000 servers, which both our domain controllers are running as well. When I attempt to install exchange 5.5 on a Win 2000 memember server, it tells me that I need to be connected to a NT 4 domain first. I think the version of exchange I'm trying to install is too old, I read I need at least Exchange 5.5 sp3 to install on windows 2000. I can't get that media. I need to know what it would take to install exchange 2003 on a server and migrate from my backups of exchange 5.5 (not backuping indivual mailboxes), to exchange 2003? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Can't really help you with your Exchange issue, but have you considered implementing a messaging business cotinuity service, to keep your email up and running in case a server goes down?
