Hi,

I am trying to document a disaster recovery for Windows 2000 server. I was just wondering if anyone can advice me on this as to what all to consider.

For my backups I have implemented grandfather-son strategy and using Veritas Backup Server 9.0 and I have also implemented hardware fault tolerance or RAID5.

I understand for Active Directory recovery one has to ensure the backup of System state, along with system drive and SYSVOL folder. But what else to consider to draft a good disaster recovery.

Many Thanks,

Meghna

Two more points that you might want to address in the plan are.

1. Offsite storage of backups.

2. What is the plan to get the business up in running again in case of a catastrophic event like an fire, flood ,or earthquake that destroys the physical location?

After you have the backup strategy figured be sure to test it with a restore to make sure it is going to do what you want to do.

Another thing to consider/document and practice is performing an authoritative restore.

I hope you find this post helpful. Please let me know if it was.

Regards,

Mark

Thanks to all for their prompt reply, I will definately keep all this in mind while drafting the disaster recovery.

Cheers,
