Hi, this may be a silly question but here goes anyway.

I have a machine on our network that runs windows 2000 and office 2000. Recently I was asked if I could install the XP version of Powerpoint but keep the other programs (word execl etc) as 2000. This I did and everything seems to be working fine EXCEPT that the office shortcut bar is now missing and it isn't in the location I'd expect.

There is a shortcut that looks like the shortcutbar but the path leads to somewhere in the XP office folder. If I click on it, nothing happens.

Any ideas on what has happened? Is it possible to have a shortcut bar at all with Office 2000 & XP programs running on the same machine? Is there any more issues I should know about?

I wouldn't normally do this but for some users, they need access to certain features of both versions.

Many thanks for your help

Gary

You need to reinstall the shortcut bar for the version you want. If you want the 2000 shortcut bar then reinstall office 2000 and uncheck the powerpoint program. I have never tried this but it might work. We always use quick launch instead as it uses less resources and is included as part of windows 2000 pro.
