An employee in our office has a network drive mapping that periodically disconnects and then reconnects - a red "X" will appear accross the network drive icon.

I have checked for electrical inteference sources and can find none.

Does anyone have any ideas on what is causing this drive mapping to come and go?

Thanks,

This feature has been around since Windows 2000. The system puts the drive map to "sleep" after a certain amount of inactivity in order to keep system performance up to snuff.

It is the Power Management crap. Go the properties of the nic and the Power page and uncheck the "Let Windows Power Down..." box.
