A user approached me today with an address book issue. The Groupwise & frequent contacts address books were both normal, however, she had lost all names from her personal address book.

Searching her drives for *.pab or *.nab turned up nothing.
Reinstalling the Groupwise 5.5 software changed nothing.

My last ditch solution was to copy the "frequent contacts", rename it, and to have her manually remove all unwanted names.

One point that I forgot to mention. She waited 3 weeks before coming to me with the problem. I didn't want to risk restoring backups that were that old for the sake of an address book.

Thanks,

Mike

Was the personal address book tab gone or just the names inside it? I have had users delete a book and also just close a book so they thought it was deleted. I had another user do a 'select all' and remove thinking it was a different book that she was cleaning out. I wouldn't restore either at that age just for an address book.

Cheers,

Mark ;-)

The book was still there - just blank. She claims that it "just happened". ;)

Well okay we have had the problem in the past as well....here is how we fixed it uninstall windows messaging and groupwise run the GW reg cleaner thing you can download it from cool solutions....re-install win95 messaging as well as groupwise....if that doesn't work export your system address book and import it into her groupwise.....i would rebuild her db before and after performing this process and you should be just fine and your user will be happy
