I am helping lock-down the workstations on a local school's LAN system and we've been having a *LOT* of trouble with students being ableto modify the contents of the hard disks by Right-Clicking on the "Start Button" and opening windows Explorer. Does anyone know how to disable this???

If this is a Windows 95 machine, You can remove the start button, by double-clicking on the start button and then press the ALT and minus(-) key. Select CLOSE, and then the start button disapears. You have to reboot to restore the start button.

Backup the registry and/or export the following keys before making any modifications:

Open regedit, navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
Right-click on the Explorer key, choose new>DWORD name it
NoChangeStartMenu
and give it a value of 1.

I just posted this additional information on another board, so I'll pass it along here.

These are additional restricts under the same key as above with a value of 1.
