Can anyone tell me how to disable the firewall in ISA on a SBS 2000 machine.

The server was on dialup and has just been changed over to dsl and now has a cisco router acting as the firewall. Apparently the server is running slow and the les sthings running on there the better, hence removal of the ISA firewall functions.

Thanks

Scott

Go to Services and stop Microsoft Firewall but I don't think that's a good idea.

Try to add RAM to that machine, I had installed ISA for another company for test and they are using it right now. Their machine (PC not server) P3-800-512, no SCSI, 50 internal users, publish TS (forward to internal server) for 10 users and it's a VPN server also.

Thanks for that,

The server is dual P3 1ghz, 2gb ram, scsi raid etc.

Basically they have some proprietry software that is running slow and the support company has given us a list of things we need to do before they will come down here and check the software.

One of them was to move the firewall to a dsl router & remove it from the server.

One other thing, I disabled the packet filters in ISA - should that have been done or just stop the firewall service?

Just disable firewall service but I don't think it'll solve your problem.

thanks mate. I dont think it will solve it either but the software support company wont help us until we follow their instructions.

Thanks for your help

Scott

If you disable ISA, you'll probably have to disable the client firewall on the workstations... as well, under internet explorer, tools, internet options, connections, lan settings... remove the proxy.
